It's for the wiring, to decide what impedence the amp sees. I'd say opt for the dual 4 since then if you wire it in parallel you use 2ohms, and it's a lot cheaper to get however many watts at 2 than 4.

You wire up two Dual 2 ohm subs in parallel and you're gonna drop it to a half ohm, likely killing the subs and the amp at the same time. Use this for reference: http://www.soundkraft.com/Subwoofer_Wiring.htm

You're right... if you are only going with 1 woofer. If you are wanting to have 2 woofers than go w/ dual 4.

How does this look for wiring 2 up to 1 ohm whats good and whats bad about this, and what wiring diagram should I use

If using Dual 2 ohm coils the total load would be 0.5 ohm.

If using Dual 4 ohm coils the total load would be 1.0 ohm.

If using Dual 6 ohm coils the total load would be 1.5 ohm.

Perfect... there is only 1 way to wire to present a 1 ohm load.

if you get a single get a d2. wires to 1 or 4( mono amp or a 2 channel bridged)

if you get 2 get d 4 wire to 1 ohm. (mono amp)

for two type-rs? how much power do they demand? i would say around 600? i have never looked into them but just find any amp to do 600 at 1ohm
