alpine type r 12"?

my friend wants to get a 12" type r, 4ohms. uh.... yeah only thing i need to know is can they run on 1 ohm, and what should he use rms. i was thinking a hifonics BXi 1208D at 1 ohm for 1200 watts if the sub can handle it. and what size box?

he doesnt... but yeah thanks for the info. i didnt know you need a 2 to run on 1 ohm... i was told that fi BL's (d2) are either 4 ohm or 1 ohm so i assumed that it was like that on all subs. am i wrong?

BL's are either D2 or D1, on a D2 you can wire in series for a 4ohm load or parralel for a 1ohm load. D1 would be series = 2ohm and paralel = .5ohm
