I think you are 100% correct on that one as well..I did notice in the Video that there seemed to be quit a few BLOWN Subs lying around ..LOL...Some folks love clipping, and have deep pockets and that video has answered alot of my questioning.LOL..Thanks SkyLine appreciate itAs far as his review of the Type R "problem," I feel like it isn't exactly that devastating. The leads follow the curve of the spider, meaning they can travel just as far as the spider itself. Under no amount of excursion will the leads be "shorter" than the spider. The surround also keeps the cone/coil from "rocking" much at all. Possibly under the condition that he is reaching excursion levels further than the subs were built for, it could eventually cause failure, but I'm sure Alpine would replace them if that was the case.. the pair of 12's on 1700w have been abused for over 2 years without failure so I wouldn't hesitate at all to pick up another pair.
in that price range, AQ has their sdc2.5 models as well, I would simply rather deal with AQ than alpine. But also, I havent dealt with these specific subsFor what its worth my buddy ran a pair of the new 12s. 1500 rms to the pair. Prefab ported box. In the trunk of a dodge avenger and it was surprisingly pretty loud. Much much louder than the older models, SQ and low end lacked but that could most likely be had with a better box. But all in all I doubt you'll find a better $150 woofer.
I can attest to this, blew me away when I heard it! Sure as hell didn't expect them to get down like they did, and on such little power.Im running a Pair of CVR in my Honda CRV,in approx 1.6 cu ft per chamber ported @around 34 htz, @2ohms per sub on 1-Autotek Mean Machine 66 per sub,and they are getting down fine.
The other day I threw put together ported box model for two HO10s (SVC) in a ported box. It looked good in a 1.2cu ft box tuned in low 30s, which is surprisingly compact ported box for a dual subwoofer setup. I can't comment on the DVC version, as the T/S parameters may be considerably different between the SVC and DVC versions. In case of the 12 inch version of HO sub, the SVC and DVC models were around for a while, and I noticed that the HO12 version as a bit more of xmax, lower resonance frequency, but also much lower sensitivity than the SVC version. The same may be true to the 10 inch subs.Well, guys,I decided to go with a pair of these here, after getting some info on a thread..i had no Idea they made DVC10s,and carry a 5yr warranty.these should do just fine on these amps, and hopefully I will not have to make another sub box..That will be determined at a later time once received and played.I thank you all for the info, and Input.Dayton Audio RSS265HO-4 10" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm 295-462
