Alpine Type-R 10" blown? HELP!

I have an Alpine Type R going on a few months now, and last month during spring break, I turned it up too much in a drunken stupor and ended up possibly blowing the sub? I'm not really sure. When it plays it makes a rattling noise that gets louder with the sub, but still sounds the same. I took it out and inspected it and saw no visible damage, which leads me to believe it's probably an internal problem. I pushed the cone down and when it gets pretty far, almost as far as it goes, there's a scratching noise. Sounds as if there's a piece of wire or metal or something rubbing on the the weaved thing attached to the cone (n00b, dunno what its called).

Can anyone identify the problem just from this description? If not, does anyone know how to disassemble it so I can take a look at the voice coil?

If it's done for good i'd still like to know how to take it apart, just because I'm interested in learning more.

Thanks in advance.
