Alpine Type "E"?

I saw and ad at a circuit city for alpine "type e" subwoofers. It was buy one, get one free for 149.99 (12''). All the info they had on them was 600 watts. Are these subs any good. How do they compare to the type "S" or type "R"?

the type E's are circuit city's version ("deck" model) of teh Type S i believe....

they are made for them by alpine so they can calim taht they have an 'exclusive' woofer...

To answer the question, no, it's not true. The Type-E is Alpine's "entry level" driver. I've heard all of Alpine's offerings except the Type X, and I prefer the Type R out of all of them.

I have heard all but the type X, and i would have to agree that the Type R's are their best woofer (assuming this till i hear a Type X). If your willing to pay 150 for a pair of type E's, you might as well just order 2 Type S's off Ike sound.

As for all that bull shit about the Type E being made specifically for Circuit city....wtf are you on buddy?

At the time, IIRC, they were the only well advertised suppliers of Type E's. They weren't (/aren't?) even listed on Alpine's website. Explain that one.

They aren't listed on the Alpine website, but other places such as Crutchfield's sells them now.
