Alarm question

I'm looking to get an alarm installed, but here's the kicker: my car already has one installed. It was handed down to me from my stepmom, all I know is that there's a stupid DEI 1 horn alarm inside that doesn't work. My stepmom had a system in there awhile back and it got stolen, so I'm assuming the thieves disabled the alarm. The car also already has remote door locks/remote start, but I'm unsure if it ties in with the alarm.

My question: Are there addon units to purchase for my existing setup or would it be better to go from scratch? I'm looking at a Viper 791 xv, are there any other worthwhile alarms to look at? Along with that, I'll probably add 2-3 more horns and a battery backup.
