hello everyone i jsut had a nice hornet alarm installed in my car it has all the features as well as 2 way technology. i had them put in the remote start as well . but they cudnt get it to work becasue my car which is a chevy cavalier has some type of "theft system" so when you start the car it starts up for a half second and then dies right off they said it is becasue of the theft system i need a special module in order for it to work and stay runing . is this right??? would the theft system keep the remote start from not working ?

any helps is all ways appreciated

Did you have it installed professionally? Factory anti-theft systems are such a common challenge in remote start installations that I can't imagine any competent shop not being able to bypass one in a Cavalier.

Your vehicle has an anti-theft system called Passlock. Since its entire purpose is to prevent the car from being started without a key, then yes, it has to be bypassed for the remote start to activate. ANY shop that routinely does remote start installations should be able to provide the module and install it correctly.

If you want to get the module yourself, do a search on Ebay for a Directed 456L. If you had a non-professional install the system, I'd think twice before letting him work on the Passlock bypass. Any screwup there could leave you with a car that won't start at all.
