aftermarket touchscreen in new 2017 Nissan Altima SR

I just spoke to Metra and they told me that it is very possible that Best Buy can't do it while Columbus Car Audio can. He said that Best Buy is more of a plug and play installer, and if there isn't a harness for it, they likely can't do it. He said the higher end specialty installers often can do installs like that because they have the knowledge and the specialized tools to pull it off.

He did say that Metra hasn't tested it yet on a car that new, so they couldn't tell me one way or the other right now.

I worked at bestbuy for about 5 yearsJeff is talking out his ***

Yes there is stuff that bestbuy can't do and a speciality custom shop will do better but this is a simple radio we are talking about

Most of the installers came from car audio shops that closed down or they moved into the area

They were proficient at fiberglass (but didn't have equipment at bestbuy) did sunroofs, "custom boxes" usually factory recommended and so on.

The factory steering wheel controls probably use a data signal and there may not be software to integrate with it yet

Generally you use a steering wheel control integration module that programs itself by what the car is

Example I had to do a newer Nissan (7years ago) and there was no accessory wire in the cabin. It was all turned on by data signal so I had to run a wire into the engine bay to get a simple acc wire

Some cars today they just do stupid stuff with from the factory

Get a second opinion or call up metra and ask a tech guy there
it depends on the best buy some are ran by pure nooblets I've had to fix two installs from them myself in my area. While i know some others actually have knowledgeable folks but the majority of the install bays i've visited are very limited in knowledge. Everyone on every forum knows about the best buy horror stories.

the common universal steering wheel adapter they all use is the axxess aswc-1 Its not a guarantee that it'll read your signal but they can always try. My ex's 2016 civic didn't show up on the list of vehicles it'll work for but after running the sweep and doing a few extra things I got the steering wheel control to work for it.

While the factory backup camera they can make a custom adapter to make it work with your new head unit if metra doesn't have one.

I also called the other location that is owned by the higher end installation company today, and the guy there said the same thing. Best Buy is wrong and in fact he said there is a adapter that works on this vehicle from another vendor that they have access to.
