Aeroports can decrease port size by 50%???

Lately i've heard a few people say that you can decrease your slot port area by as much as 50% just by using aero's. Anone care to explain or validate this statement?

It has to do with port noise.

The reason many people use slot ports is to get a large area, to minimize noise. With Aeroports, they are smoothed to reduce turbulence, thus allowing for better air movement without noise in smaller ports.

I dunno about 50% smaller, but it does make a difference.

i know george...just trying to open this up for discussion without cluttering up the guys thread. I've thought for a long time that aero's would help reduce sq in of port but mathematically i can't prove anything

check out the link bro. devildriver (aka punkorama) mathematically showed a redution of vent velocity by 56% by using aero ports.

so in essence, in his example, you can get by with 56% less by using aeros.

so let me get this right? u can use aero ports and have less air space taken up inside the box, while minimizing port noise and retaining sq?

yea but 6" x 17" aeros cost $40 a pop

i saw that =[. so what rule do u follow for aeros? i no that height of port x width = 15.5 - 16.5 x (desired net volume of box that driver will see) in order to get ur needed surface area? how do u no if u need a 3" aero or 6" aero?

1 4" = ~12^2 of port or 24^2 of slot port

1 6" = ~28^2 of port or 56^2 of slot port
