I decided oh 1 1/2 weeks ago to stop thinking about adding a system and finally do it. I began by doing a little research and going off by what I was told previously. I figured I'm not huge into car audio, but I wanted to do it right with decent/good hardware. I bought my Hifonics HF1000D amp online for $180 brand new. I absolutely refuse to buy anything local simply because of the extreme markup price etc. I do this with almost anything. This amp obviously with run 2 12" DVC subs at 1 ohm, 500rms each. My original plan was buying Rockford P3's which would run 500rms each at the price of $145. However when going to a local shop I heard the P3's, the Kicker CVR's, and the Kicker L5's. No doubt the L5's are more expensive, but looks to be a better all around speaker. Not to mention I do simply like the look and the square design to it. I was worried about clipping etc etc simply because my amp would be under powering the speakers, but was informed with the right settings and not completely cranking the system they would by far be ok. After all of these decisions I figured I would get rid of my factory head unit in my 2006 Grand Prix with the monsoon sound system. I have a Pioneer DEH-P3000IB sitting around which I had in a sebring I wanted to use. This have 2 pairs of outputs, one set of sub woofer outputs etc etc. Well just today come to find out because of this special wiring harness I have to have, it uses all 4 of my RCA outputs. For those who are curious it is a GM OS4 wiring harness. GM Factory Integration Adapter General Motors Class II data bus interfaceRetains ONSTAR system, factory door chime, and Bose system with aftermarket radio at Crutchfield.com. I was giving a few things I could do. One was to splice wires, another was to use a line output converter, and the other was to use Y adapters. Basically taking the 4 RCA outs on my head unit and giving me 6. However I am a little confused on the set up. Obviously (if I am correct) the RCA's meant for subwoofers will be hooked up to the subwoofers, and the two Y adapters will be hooked up to the front (top pair) of RCAs. Basically I want to make sure I am understanding this correctly in the setup.
Any advice, or suggests are welcome. I understand a new head unit is probably advised however i am running a budget
