The Threatcon 4 is going to need a lot more wattage than you've got. With a 4" VC it's probably not going to be very efficient. Pro-rabbit (Dustin) who is a moderator on this site and my box builder gave the Threatcon 2 a really good review. I trust his opinion... He's been at this CA thing for a while.

Lol at all the C2 nuthugging around here, especially towards the model that isn't even released yet.

Lethal Injection for sure. Also look at SA-12's, and Dayton Audio HO's.

Ahhh, forgot about the Epic.

OP, that TC or a Dayton HO (Dayton Audio RSS315HO-44 12" Reference HO DVC Subwoofer 295-467) are probably the best two contenders for SQ while still getting decently loud.

Exactly... And no one can tell me exactly "why" it has a 4" coil as opposed to a 3" coil except for "it works better"

C2 hasn't impressed me. At all.

Only good thing about a big coil sub built like that is noobs can clip the sub quite alot and get away with it. but with the loose suspension it still performs ok at rated power. Kinda like the rockford t2

but I agree a subs coil shouldn't need to be over sized with no gains

Even a decent 3" coil shouldn't get stinky on 1200w with some pretty extreme clipping.

But you just explained it really well... it's a sub made for noobs that want to cheap out on everything but still "think" they have something good.

Well im not really a fan of c2 in general but it appears both subs lines were designed this way.

hell even the owner state he had the threatcon2 bottoming out on 800w which is silly with the 3inch coil that should easily take double that power.

But noobs spend alot of money in this industry and a pretty much noob proofed sub can build quite a reputation with the beginner crowd.

Personally I would jyst spend a little more on an ab xfl or hd

You guys can say what you want about the C2 Threatcon 2. I am not a noob that was looking to cheap out, besides having the C2's I also have some JL Audio W6's and a IA Death Penalty. Geuss what? Price really wasnt a concern, it was a new company that I wanted to try. Yeah, they were cheap but WELL worth the money! I have heard them side by side with both the SA-12's and the LI 12's and the SA or the LI isnt worth twice the money! How many of you sh*t talkers actually own or have owned a C2???

Im not derating the subs abilities im just not a fan. If it performs well for you great.

In highschool we did a dual isobaric bandpass with 4 kicker cvt6.5s for a guy. The design resembled the old polk bandpass with 4 6x9s. The guy loved it and it sounded good 250bucks and 500w later he had a really nice system that performed beyond expectations.

I later did the same basic design with 4 jl 6w3s and while it did sound slightly better I dont think it was worth the extra spent on the subs

but even now I want to try some silverflutes in a similar design as I believe they will do quite well and are cheap.

But as for the c2 I just see wasted ability with the extra large coil
