Advice on Escapes

Hey guys, I have a 2008 Escape, i'm trying to figure out why the subs are distorting. I'll list off my components so you know what i'm working with:

Pioneer DEH-P7000BT deck

2 sets of Infinity Kappa 682.7cf speakers

2 JL Audio 10W1v2-4 subs in a Q-logic enclosure

Kenwood KAC-9104D amp

I think the problem may be from it vibrating the hatch door, because when i open it and play my system theres less distortion, currently the subs are back firing, would a up firing box help lessen the problem?

Thats a pre-fab enclosure. Those subs need a custom ported box to really sound the way JL designed them.

From the sounds of it, the "distortion" is just a rattling rear hatch?

what kind of a box should i look at for getting the subs then? I was wondering if changing the direction of where the subs fired would lessen the rear hatch as well, or which firing direction was the best.

It doesn't really matter where the subs are firing, you need a PORTED Custom box specifically made for those woofers.

Just go to your local shop and have them build you one.

Prolly around $70-$120. I paid a shop $85 for mine to be custom built.

You will be surprised on the difference on the crappy Q-logic pre-fab you have, compared to a custom ported box.
