When i run my system for awhile the bass gets quiet and my HU light dims, actually the whole car dims. I am going to do the big 3 here in awhile, but would investing in a better battery be worth it with the system i have. Im only running 1100rms total, although someday i think i would like to have a sub amp that could do 1500rms but until then yea... 02 camry le with a 105amp alt. Was looking at the HC1400, battery would also be my starter to.

ill tell you one thing. your bass is not get quieter. your ears are getting used to it. evertime i sit in my car the bass is loud for like 2 mins. then my ears quickly adapt and it just doesnt seem loud at all.

and as far as dimming, if you dont have a voltage reading, you dont have a place to start. you could be dropping only 1 volt and get dimming, its just how the electrical system works. and 1 volt wont make a difference in output to the ear.

That makes sense, lol thanks. I will take a voltage reading today, if i could get my lights from dimming that would be cool, maybe all i need to do is the big 3, ill start there before anything.

*Big 3*

Sense my alt is 105, i wouldnt use a fuse for the 1/0 power wire of like 125 or something? In the event of a short how high could a spike from my alt be? Basically whats my best bet in fuse sizes so my care doesnt burn up if something bad happens. This is something i havent been able to figure out and i have read through the big 3 thread.

your fusing should be on your power wire to your amp then another fuse 18" fromyour amps.this will isolate the wire running through your car if there is a short.the big3 is so more current can flow from alt to bat freely and through the body ground.all this is isolated under the hood so you don't need a fuse between the alt and battery.if you do fuse between the alt and battery and you blow the fuse while driving you better have a spare fuse or you'll be driving without an alternator to keep your car charged and possibly damageyour battery and if you go to long the battery WILL overheat and explode.

^he would not be driving without an alternator if the fuse blew... he wouldn't be getting current through the big 3 wire, but since in a big 3, you are supposed to be adding wire and not replacing that wouldn't happen. it would just travel back through the original stock wire, unless he replaced it.

I wasnt talking about the amps power wire, there is a fuse right at the battery then i have a fused distro so its safe, lol. But you do need a fuse for the alt to battery so your car doesnt burn down, and i would be adding the wire not replacing it so if the fuse did blow power could still get through the stock wire.
