Advice on a 10"-12" sub for a small sealed enclosure

I'm going to purchase a 10"-12" sub for SQ. I mainly listen to classic/hard rock(not much into rap/techno) and my current 10" Kicker Bass Station lacks the cajones on the I am looking for.

My vehicle is a full-sized Ford van and the sub will be behind the rear seat. Space is at a premium for me as I travel a lot and need space for packing all my crap. ;-) Because of that, I'll be stuffing the sub into small, sealed enclosure.

A couple options I'm currently looking at:

Rockford Fosgate P3D4-12 (and the 10" version)

Alpine SWR1243D (and the 10" version)

I'm open to other suggestions as well, as I'm not the most knowledgeable on this stuff.

As far as the amp goes, I'm thinking of picking up a Hifonics BRZ1200.1D or BRZ 1700.1D.

Thanks in advance for the tips!

Dayton Audio bout sums it up.
I'm not too familiar w/ Dayton Audio, but I'm pretty much a novice at this stuff. Checking around a bit it looks as though Dayton Audio is pretty well thought of. The reviews look good and the price is reasonable. The JL mentioned above is a little on the pricey side for me.
As far as enclosures go, do you have any specific recommendations? Not really looking to fab my own. Ideally I'd prefer sealed, but I'm open to going ported if it doesn't take up too much room.

Thanks!

I'd go for the 12" as well, especially if you're running sealed. Or hell, even the 15" if you can. It'll still require a rather small box. That is a big cabin you have to fill.

I will say with the utmost certainty, the Dayton is the sub for your application. Far superior to those awful subs you were asking about in the beginning of your post. If you do run ported though, you will need an enclosure designed and built for your application. So unless you're willing to spend $150+ on a ported enclosure, just look to a 15" sealed.

Budget for sun and amp? What's your electrical like and how much room do you have for the box?
Sub/Amp budget - ~$350 give or take. Prefer under of course.

I'm going to have to run a new power wire from my battery regardless of the amp I choose, as what I have now going to my little Kicker box is tiny. Right now I'm looking at a couple 4 gauge wiring kits with 80A or 150A fuses.

I don't have much space to work with, which is why I was thinking of a sealed box.

A single 4 gauge kit will be plenty of power. 4 gauge amplifier installation kit

With the Dayton woofer, a ported box for a 10" would be right around 1.25 cubit feet gross I'd imagine. So you wouldn't be giving up much space at all. A sealed box for a 15" would need like 1 cubic foot. But a custom ported box would cost an extra $100 at least. so if you're not willing to shell out that cash, just go for the 12" or 15" sealed.

OK, looking at the 12". Any thoughts on either of these enclosures?
Sonic Sub Boxes 1SL12-1.0-GRAY (1sl1210-gray) Single 12" Sealed

Sonic Sub Boxes 1H12-0.7-GRAY (1h1207-gray) Single 12" Hatchback

Both have about .7ft of cubic space before installing the sub.
Sealed is sealed so both listed are fine. Both look to be mdf so thats about all u can ask for from a sealed pre-fab box. Buy extra caulk and just be sure that all the edges inside are covered let it cure and let it go.

Alright, thanks. Would you suggest stuffing the box with some polyfill?
I guess that leaves the amp. I mentioned up thread that I was looking at HiFonix BRZ line, but I'm open to suggestions on that front as well. Trying not to go over $200. Would not mind spending less.

Thanks!

I see no reason for poly as these drivers are made to wrk in small small boxes. Nothing wrong with the BRZ line dnt touch anything else Hifi though. The 1200 would wrk but for a few bucks more id just grab the 1700. But Before you buy either or get a different amp look in the FS section you can find many of good deals in there.
