Advice for Type-R box?

Currently I have a Q-Logic prefab 1.25ft^3 ported. Would I be correct in saying that any box I *correctly* build is gonna sound better than what I have now?

I am looking at building the box below and was wondering if this would be the right tuning freq. I listen mostly to rap and techno but a decent amount of alternative also.

Also, I have seen a couple box designs that have corner pieces that make two 135degree angles instead of one 90 degree angle. Would this change the overall tuning freq? I know a little about sound and since low frequencies tend to stick in corners, by putting in these pieces in, does the db output increase?

Box specs are more relevant than a link to a plan without general specs. I wouldnt go much larger than 2.0NET@30-32hz if you want your alternative to sound decent.

The two 135 degree pieces your refering to are commonly called "45's" and if adjusted for, they wont affect tuning. I'm assuming you have a 05+ 12" type-r and 2-2.5 is whats generally done with ~25in^2 of port area...your on track with that one

Well you take your Net volume of 2.25ft^3, add driver displacment of .128ft^3, add port displacement of 1ft^3, and finally add the displacment of those "45's"..doing all that will give you your gross volume. With that gross volume you derive your final external dimensions.

so bottom line....you just include them into your figuring for gross volume.

Bad news. I just took some measurements in my car and found out that the box dimensions are gonna be too big for what I want. In my suv, I need to be able to have this box and my golf clubs. With the box I have in my first post, I won't be able to fit the clubs in the back.

So if someone good at designing boxes could come up with a design for me. (edit) I woud still like the box to be about 2-2.25 ft^3.

MAX MEASUREMENTS

Length- 22"

Depth- 22"

Height- window level is about 17/18"

Tuning- 30-32

You can just squeak by with those measurments....

I came up with 16" Tall, 22" wide and 21.5" deep. It's 2.25ft^3 tuned at 32 hz. PM me for all the details.
