Maybe this has been hit upon before, but I haven't seen it. I guess my advice is simply this: If you use a remote gain on your amp and you ever have to replace the wire, double check your voltages. I have a FSD-2600 with a remote which is connected via 4 conductor phone cord. I had a small episode which pulled on the cord and broke one of the wires. So, I replaced it with a cheapie from Wally World. Things just didn't quite sound right after that. I re-did my gains today and found that I was several volts off from previously. That new cord changed the resistance enough to affect my gains. Lesson learned.
