Trying to decide on amp for new system

Hey Guys,

I've been away from the Car Audio Scene for some time now and have been bitten by the bug again. I've got an 88 FJ62 coming soon that is still on the factory stereo that I want to rip and replace. Truck will be getting the full dynamat extreme treatment throughout along with a modern system. I'm going for more SQ than SPL this go around.

So far, I'm planning on the following:

HU: Pioneer 4800BS

Fronts: CDT COM-626CR

Rear: CDT Cox622

Sub: ID IDQ12V.4 in 1 cube sealed.

Amp: ?

I'm thinking i want to go with a 5 channel to power everything for the sake of simplicity and space. I'll be building a custom fiberglass enclosure for the sub and rack next to it in the rear storage compartment where the jack and tools usually live to keep the cargo area open.

As far as which amp, that's where I'm torn. There's so many to choose from and each has it's pluses. I may be over thinking this, but wanted some opinions on the following choices. I'm open to other suggestions, and want to keep the price point under $500.

Front Runners: Arc XDi850.5, Alpine PDX-V9, RF P1000X5, MA EX5

What is the consensus on the above amps? I have seen plenty of reviews of the Alpine, a few of the RF and very little on the MA and Arc amps.

Also, what other options should I look at? If I can find a good deal on a nice JL or something, I'll be all over that, but haven't seen anything under $500 locally that fits.

Out of that group I'd go PDX-V9. If you look around a bit you can get a used xdi1200.6 at that price point and that would be just about perfect for your setup.

Don't waste money on Dynamat, it's not a very good product.

Look at Knuconceptz 100mil and Second Skin
