dont use the bass knob (unless thats what you like using), i used it when i first installed it about 2 weeks ago, and kept wondering why it sounded so wierd, even after turning the bass boost on the amp down to 0. also, after taking the bass knob out, i reset my settings on my h/u (my last sub system was only 600 watts so i used the loudness, sla etc.) turned the loudness completely off, set the SLA to +1 ( not just for bass, it normalizes the volume across the songs on the cd) insted of +3, and turned the L freq down to 0. bass is harder hitting and alot cleaner now, i advise anyone to do the same when switching any setup. im not anywhere near knowing everything, but i figured it would help out some of the newer people.

sorry but what you're saying is retarded. If you take the bass knob out and readjust everything, how can you blame the bass knob, its just a remote gain and thats all. Theres nothing wrong with using the bass knob on the zx amps. If you plug it back in and turn it all the way up, it'll sound the same as it does now.Why don't you plug it back in now and see if it still sounds weird.

because it sounds better without it, i tried setting the bass knob and i cant find a midpoint between no bass and hella distortion, if i disconnect the bass knob its perfect.

if you werent in such a rush to be a prick to me, you would have read my post in the beginning saying use the bass knobs if you like them, then you would have understood its my opinion on how it sounds.

the bass knob doesn't make it sound different in any way. Now that you set the gains correct and the settings on the hu, plug it back in and tell me if it still distorts.

the zx models have the remote gain knob it only allows to lower the gain thats it

so when you set the gains you set it normal and the knob just allows u to turn the bass down

you are retarted

Seriously you guys are the ****ing retards. if you would give me a straightforward answer or statement instead of being a bunch of fuckass dickheads, there wouldnt be a bunch of people on here knowing next to shit about audio cuz your selfish ****ing assholes.

From a purely logical standpoint, it would seem that the other changes (bolded above) were likely the reason for the change in how your setup sounded, not because you removed a remote gain knob from the system. If you want to hear how much of a difference it really made, put all your HU settings back to where they were before you removed the knob and tell us how it sounds.

You're being told correct information and you're *****ing about it. The reason why it sounds better now is because you changed all of your setting on the HU and turned off the bass boost on your amp.

The knob that comes with the ZX amps is purely a gain knob(as already stated), and means that the only purpose it serves is to lower the amount of power coming from the amp when needed. It doesn't boost anything.

the joint says bass knob, I'm guessing it's a bass boost. It says nothing about a gain boost. Even so I don't care to much for the remote knobs anyway. I mean if you keep your sub level at 0 on your HU, then set your gain on the amp, you could just use your HU right?
