Adjust gain with DMM and x-over questions

I'm wondering what tone do I use to set the gain for mids and tweeters? I found somewhere saying 1000 Hz for mids and haven't seen anything for tweeters. 1000 seemed high to me but I really have no clue.

I finally ordered some front speakers I went with Hertz MLK 165.3 I'm hoping to find out where Hertz has them crossed over and match it or maybe someone knows a better point to cross. they will be run active using a jbl ms-8.

Also 160 watts for mids and 50 watts for tweeters sound good? My amp can provide up to 190 per channel

I wouldnt care too much about watts if you have the power. I'd care more about the whole tune as in balancing out the tweeter and mids so they blend well. Gains for Mids and highs is best done by ear, not DMM. If you want to run active, you'll need to experiment. However the MS-8 should be able to figure most of that out for you.

Thanks. I guess that's part of the fun with car audio (trial and error) I'm excited to finally have some good speakers and just wanted to prepare for it.
