adding bass to songs??? GD!

what program can i use to add bassline to songs? there some songs i wouldnt mind adding bass too. i was over at meade website and watched a video, with him playing sir mix alot posse on broad way and it was slumping. come to find out it was bass added. anyone who knows an good program please let me know. i have some pretty cool songs i would add bass notes too.

logic or protools mostly

import the song then find out the notes of the bass line or ones you want to make up. download some test tones, im sure you already have, and find a chart on line that correlates hertz with the actual notes. then edit and mix. or you could try to eq the track to boost the bottom end.
