Add me to the list of dead JL amps :(

I bought a used 300/4 five and a half months ago. Within the last 2-3 weeks I've had 2 channels die on me for no reason at all. Amp is fused properly, gains set properly, blah blah etc etc. They just quit. After some searching around I see this is a common problem with these amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/pissed.gif.9f665f96bc89e98e708dabd4580bb591.gif

Just thought I'd share the news. I'm getting ready to give the big //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bigwave.gif.16324171cad2db62cf4f16568b038478.gif to car audio and sell the rest of my **** that still works. This f'in *****.

Welcome, my 500/5 gave out too. Protection circuitry my arse! It was never once abused, gains set per JL specs too. I had to resort back to 7 y.o. rockford punch, which is still working like a champ.

I feel better knowing I'm not the only one haha.

Right now my 300/4 is currently a 150/2... at least I still have 2 channel to power my speakers with. If I didn't have those two channels I'd be screwed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif HU power, here I come.

mine was a 500/5 turned into 250/5, was still working but hot as heck

ugh, i just sold a 500/5 that i never used and really dont want to hear about it shitting out on the guy.
hopefully it was just my luck; this is what happens when there's too much computing involved, it's like BSOD!

They just need to make the amp simple and efficient.

haha all except I can't reboot my amp and it will be back to normal. I have to pay $120 for JL to fix it, plus shipping costs.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with JL amps. From my experience JL slash series amps are nicely engineered and pretty reliable. IMHO, the only flaw of them - is over-complicated design, too many things can possibly go wrong. But at least, they are not frying your speakers, when blowing a channel, like a Fosgates always do. If you are not going old-school it's also hard to beat them in SQ in same price range.

years ago 3 300/4 took a **** in 3 months on me. I hate JL amps. In fact I hate them except for their subs and even then they aren't a good value.

edit: my wires too.

That strikes me as overboard. We'll probably survive if a thread or two every week comes back from the dead.

I took a quick look at the manual for the Jensen. It only says that the usb is compatible with memory sticks and iPhone and iPod. It makes no...
