im wanting to put either 1 or 2 12-15 inch subs in my dads acura tl trunk. But, i still want the trunk usable to move stuff. So i was thinking something like this

the checkerboard just means that its a false floor to hide the amps

id make the visible side of the box fiberglassed, and the port would blow through the rear deck where the old sub would have been. I want it to be removable somehow, would the best way would be measure the hell out of the trunk, build it in wood, make sure it fits, then glass it im guessing?

any ideas/suggestions

nots ure on budget, but not too high. look in my sig for current setup. use that hopefully, and if i changed, id change the subs

wouldent 2 15's need way to much volume and take the whole trunk? i only want to take up that back part of the trunk, like in the pictures i provided.

im trying to convince him to give it to me for graduation, im pretty sure he will. he's getting old and its hard on his knees to get in and out. old age ftmfw

well its going to be ported through the rear deck where the old sub used to be

edit: i think ill have about 7-8 cuft^3 if i need it, but 6 is ideal

i think im going to stick with 2 type r's, and build a nice fiberglass enclosure. For having the amps under a plexi sheet, do you use fans to keep em cool or what?

ok i think i narrowed it down to two ideas:

first is fiberglassed black, like this. The amp rack is basically a box, with a removable face. The face is a black peice of mdf with a large square window cut in it, and some symbol (im digging the acura symbol) cut in plexiglass covering the opening with the rest open for air. The black mdf border would block view of wires and such but make the amps still easily accessible.

the other idea is a basic black carpeted box with same amp rack. this is the easy way out, but i think i want to go all out on this build

Much easier to see the drawings. I like your design. I am sure the choice now is a personal one that only you can make. IMO the MDF would be easier for me since I haz no glass skillz.
