Active crossovers and amps

If you connect a 3-way active crossover how many amp channels would you need for 2 pairs of components and 1 subwoofer? (I presently have passive crossovers and 3 amps devoted to each component pair and subwoofer.) I can't find any tutorials on active crossovers.

The tweets will use an output from the xover, the mids will use an output from the xover, and the sub will use an output from the xover. So 3 outputs, which would be 6 channels when you break it down into lefts and rights. You will need to use 3 amps. One for the highs, one for the mids, and one for the subs. Assuming the xover you are using has one input.

You could run two 4 ohm mids in parallel to a 2 ohm amp channel.

2 prs. of really good tweeters do not draw as much power as 2 prs. of mids, right?

I really need a good tutorial to get into this, maybe I'll pick up a book on car audio.

Thanks very much for reply.
