Active Crossoveers

louder or worse?

active crossover are there to help you tune your system by limiting the frequencies that get to the sub, some active crossovers go as far as equalizing, and or matching your voltage between your head unit and subwoofer amp. there are allot of features to them now, but it sure wont make it sound worst. as far a louder. maybe it'll help you adjust the gain on a specific frequency depending on which crossover you get. but really they are not design to make your system louder just to tune it better.

a crossover will only give you the ability to set the speaker to get certain frequencies. not make it louder or sound "better" than it already is.

you would be better set building a new box.
