Active Cooling for a Sub... The possibilities

As i understand it alot of wattage barriers are due to thermal limitations...

would there be anyway to design a watercooling system for a speaker (it dosen't take too much to build a water cooling system) or possibly a phase change cooling system? (phase changing is basically using a compressor and assembly from a fridge to cool to insanly low temps...)

my thoughts were that you could run it far above the normal rms rating.... it wouldn't be nessicary, but neither would a wall of 12 8's, like that amego has

In a sealed enclosure yes. But in a vented system, especially an SPL setup where its burped very near tuning, thermal limits become the dominate factor, not mechanical ones.

And I'd like to add that you are correct unless something mechanical actually fails before the coil burns up (I'm sure you already knew that, just adding it in for any 'n00bz').

And yes, my comments on speaker limits were based on regular occurances. Failure due to part or manufacturing defect cannot be predicted, nor compensated for.
