Acoustics problem.. Any ideas?

Well, I drive a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the extended cab, which has a bench seat in the back with very limited space.

I got an Alpine Type-R 10" sub and ever since have been trying to find out the best placement of the sub. At first I had it pointing straight at the back of the seat in the middle and it was good, the SQ was fantastic.

I then turned it so the sub was pointing up and kept it in the middle, and that made it much louder. SQ degraded a very small amount, pretty much unnoticable.

Here's a "Diagram" of the different placements I've tried which was so wonderfully done by me in MS Paint.

Yeah yeah, its not fantastic, but you get the idea.

Right now it's facing the passenger side behind the drivers seat. I like it but am wondering if there's a better place for it.

Anyone drive something similar and have and ideas of where else I should try?

The sub is fantastic.

I'm looking really for a higher output but I want to sacrifice as little SQ as possible.

If it were on a chart it would be like this:

Out--------|------------SQ
