A question for papermaker

They have that option but be honest with yourself. Most of Amazon's employees are pretty poverty and aren't about to move from Seattle to Kansas for a ******* warehouse picker job.
Yes well if a company does so, at least offer them that chance. Or just say eff it and look for another poverty job.

Have a buddy that pretty much was in a similar situation. Closed down a particular location (for whatever reason) and offered him a position in another state (AZ) for a promotion and still work for the same company.

I'm telling b you man. Go to school. Get a degree. Then try electrical. You will thank me
I went to school got a 2 year in electrical engineering

Tried to get into electrician union and got a 96% on the entrance test.

They told me I was over qualified and they didn't want to risk me going off to find a better job.

My brother applied with ZERO electrical skills a year later and got in

So here’s my opinion on all that’s been said up to this point, minus the union non union stuff, cause I don’t have any experience with that. Take everything you guys say with a grain of salt. I’m sure everybody has experienced everything they have said, even if they differ from what others have said to be true. So here’s why I’m at now....

Plumbing apprenticeship, will face my fear of water and plumbing, get experience. Go to school for electrical, for my own knowledge, improvement and home use. The plumbing starts out better, whereas the elctrical starts at 12 an hr

Nonsense. I call bullshit. I'd have you programming or doing design.

Hopefully after 10 pages you have realized this entire thread is just a giant d measuring contest with tons of opinions and incorrect information. I have been union for 12 years and some are great and some are terrible and run companies into the ground. As far as your career decision goes I don't think I would take information from the people on this forum very seriously. Honestly in my time on this forum I think I have seen 5 people that actually have a clue and aren't full of $%#@ on this forum and I am not talking about just this thread. With that being said pick a few things that interest you and google pay, longevity and job availability. Also take into account how you're going to feel physically in your late 50's and decide if that's something you would want to do at that age or if there are options to move to something less physically demanding in that field.
