Hey, i just bought an infinity digital beta 100 amp, does anyone know anything about these? I have read tons of good stuff about infinity's beta line. It is rated at 100w x2, and 400x1@4ohms, is there a good chance it is underrated?

Another case of buy first, then look for validation.

It's probably not underrated - probably overrated. In fact, it has a single 30 amp fuse. Estimating current draw, (30a@14.4v) it's only GETTING 432 watts. Add in amplifier inefficiencies and that 432w will go down.

Return it.

well, i got it for 6 bucks, so don't be too hard on me. I thought the beta line of infinity was the real deal.

If you have a use for it, by all means use it. For $6 I wouldnt be asking questions about quality and validity of power.

Well, i have just heard that infinity beta was good stuff, and when i won at $6(it was like $22 shipped), i thought i might mess around with it for fun. I couldn't find much specific info on it, so i was curious.

meh...just wire that bish up and see what she can do. No better way to find out then a benchtest.

i actually read somewhere that that amp was overrated (puts out around 360-380 ish watts), which suprised me because like you, i thought the beta series was a top of the line amp. I can remember where i saw that info, but if i can remember i'll post the link. this was about a year or so ago that i saw the info. Either way though, 22 dollars isn't bad for a 300 watt amp, if it works.

Anyway, a bench test shouldn't cost you anymore more than the cost for a digital oscilloscope (ebay).
