A Good SQ amp help

People call me crazy, but I could have sworn that I heard the power supply switching in some of the early class d amplifiers. IMHO they sounded rough and harsh.
Of course I later learned that the main problem with the early class d amplifiers and even some current budget brands compared to most class ab amplifier is that the class Ds clip hard and fast. I've verified this by looking at output on an oscilloscope with test tones and even my beloved Crossfire BMF1000d goes from a nice pretty sine wave to a saw tooth square EXTREMELY fast. Even worse was a Hifonics Brutus BXi 1606d. Granted, the testing was performed with an oscilloscope, DMMs, ammeters, dummy loads, and subwoofers BUT we lacked the equipment to test for THD.
clipping at rated power or below?

Most people dont get SQ because there nice sub/amp combo cant keep up with headuint powered stocks, or upgraded 6x9's with headuint power. By cant keep up i mean leaves them behind.

You are looking for an SQ amp to run a pair of Death Row subs? I haven't run IA subs, but have never heard them mentioned in the same sentence as SQ. Seems to me that you would start the quest for SQ with the subs and the enclosure first, then the amp. I dig SQ, but gear my system more for SPL, while trying to keep it clean and clear. I have heard that JL makes great SQ amps, but haven't run one personally.
:rolleyes:First of all I.A. makes a SQ sub that is pretty **** good. The Flatlines are their SQ subs. I know a few competion Sq setups that run flatlines with very good results. As for the Death rows they are more SQL

OP Keep your AQ amp and call it a day. but if changing amps is a must Arc,Audison,Zapco and Us amps are good Sq brands

The Brutus did it below rated power @ 2 ohms. IIRC it was rated to produce 1100 watts RMS @ 2 and it was clipping BAD by 800 watts with 14.4 volts of input.

The Crossfire was measured on subwoofers at 1 ohm and it didn't start clipping until it hit 1,100 watts.
