They are not at the level of the Nak, but they do actually have features- something nakamichis lack. I also like the 8455 and 8445 a lot too, but the "vegas by night" displays...not so much.

Its nice if you like the crappy eclipse menu

If you have stock speakers, you would be a complete moron to buy one of those decks. But, as supa_c pointed out if you have an upgraded system then it makes a very noticable difference. I've had a Sony CDX-F7715X, Pioneer DEH-P860MP and Alpine CDA-9855 all in my truck in the last 2 weeks or so, and there was a very noticable difference in the sound quality of each one. Example, the 9855 sucks, but oh well. geonfreaq I hope you also realize that the SQ decks you refer to have no internal power...

Well the reason I asked is I have RE components up front and just some MTX's in the rear for fill. Would I benefit any from a SQ deck. And yea I know they dont have a internal amp.

maybey. It's all subjective, you may or may not tell a defference. I am going to try several decks in my car this weekend to compare exactly that as I remain unimpressed with my 860. It has been solid, but the thing just has a bit of a smiley face to the freq response- like a small loudness you can't turn on or off. And no pause button makes me want to hit it with a hammer- why do I have to hit 3 buttons or find the remote to pause dammit?!

Ive messed with a couple Eclipse units at good guys.

The menu is really ugly on the flip out. The new H/U's are ugly as sin, older ones are not as bad.

I even messed around with one that had 16V preouts ( dead head)

I'm gonna try an Eclipse 8454 in the next week or so, should be a nice upgrade from my Premier, which I am less than thrilled with....and yes, I agree, the current model eclipses have heinous displays- I HATE all these blingin' displays everyone has to make them stand out in a sound board at Best Buy. Also, WTF happened to Clarion? They used to make some tight high end decks, and now their screens are all swoopy and they are blinged out too. One more reason to love a Nak, classy-understated-brushed aluminum.....mmmmm.....sorry, I need some "me" time now...

Pioneers are weak, I had a top of the line on my 3 12s a year or 2 ago and i replaced with with bottom of the line eclipse and the sq was 2x better. I was **** suprised.

What model Pioneer?? What model Eclipse??

High end decks are not about tons of features. They are about Quality.

I don't always have my remote handy, it is just irritating, and I just don't know why it tweaks me so, but it does. I know Nakamichis are about quality, it's just hard to justify when comared with the top end models from Alpine/Eclipse/Pioneer though if I had unlimited cash I would buy one because they look awesom and perform incredibly.
