A couple ?'s about the Fi Q I had installed.

Don't know what to tell ya man, i feel certain there isnt anything wrong with the sub....

Subwoofers are simple...as long as the coil is set in the center of the gap and set at the right depth there's nothing that can go wrong...

Take the sub out of the box, hook up some wires to the terminals and take a 9 volt battery and pop it in and out (in phase then reverse phase)...if it isnt clanging there then try this...

If that's fine then do like one of the other guys suggested, take it out of the enclosure and run some long speaker wires and hook it up free air. Take a piece of carpet or a bath towel (folded up of course) and set the sub on the towel so it doesnt tear the motor up...play some low frequency sine waves (20-25Hz) and roll the volume up one click at a time and get it to full stroke to see if you have some sort of mechanical noise... (clanging etc)

I've NEVER had a sealed box woofer facing into the car and being "foamed" in...i've got my Q in a 1.1 cubic foot sealed plexi box firing forward..and no matter what i do to it i cannot get any kind of clanging or mechanical noise out of it, i've tried..trust me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I will tell them to try that. I dont really want to mess with it myself too much. I would be too afriad something would happen to it. I just really hope they didnt do something to the sub when they installed it. I guess I never really thought about that before. I usually buy subs at the shops and never really had a problem before. The one time I buy a sub offline and have a shop install it, it sounds like shit! Go figure not to trust one of the couple local shops around. I will tell them what you told me and go from there. Hopefully they will let me watch. If not then I know something is up most likely. Fawking shit sucks mang! I just wanted some good tunes and this has turned into an absoulte nightmare. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Thanks for your help NDmustang. Much appreciated!

Thanks! I hope not. I really think it is the box or they did something to it or the way they hooked it up thinking maybe I would buy something of their's. Witch I would absoultly refuse to buy anything from them again.

big bang,

you have to do these things yourself or people can phuk with you, get a screwdriver that fits the screws that hold the sub in and take the sub out (8 screws) look at the wires, there is red terminals and black ones, are they BOTH connected? connected to each other or crossways? you have to look, dont be afraid, if your carefull not to poke the screwdriver thru the sub you cant damage anything, when the sub is out play t at low volms and ssee what its doing. do it now and repot back before the store robs you.

I am heading to my parents house after work today. They have a heated garage and all the tools I would need. I am gonna pull it out and see if something is disconneted or something and then test it out with a 9 volt to make sure its working correctly. Then I will mess with the phasing. Not too good with the phasing, what should I look for? I have a phase knob on my amp and I will look at that and then I have one on my crossover. I will get back with you guys later. Again thanks for all the help.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Pwnt by pat. I may hit ya up if interested. I will let ya know later on. Thanks as well.

Also I might do this tomorrow. I have a 2 12" sealed box I was using for my alpines. I may just take the one box out and put that in and test it out. I will know for sure it would be the box then. it is chambered off and is 1.75cft per. So should be perfect I would think. I just thought of dis, lol! Should I give that a whirl. Kinda would fawk my foam in, but at this point I could care less, I just want it too sound good. It honestly sounds like my box is falling apart. What do you guys think?? Worth a shot?

Heck try something... something aint right...
Yeah I think I am just because I am not happy. What a waste of money. I spent over 400 bucks getting a Kinetik 600, Component set I had installed in doors, custom foam in and amp rack in tire well plus little odds and ends like wire/dis blocks. I mean the only thing I would be messing up is the foam in. First thing is first though. I just need to take it out and look at it. It may just be something so simple that one coil is hooked up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Oh well, shit happens and if it wasnt for bad luck I would have no luck at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif
