Well just picked it up yesterday and I am not very happy with it. I honestly should have not even paid the guy. Anyway the install is pretty decent as fas as the looks. Thing is the sub sounds like it is bottoming out like crazy. All I know is I decided to go sealed and went with the 1.5cft recommended on Fi's site. Well I am getting a horrible noise which I think it is bottoming out. I never really had a sub bottom out on me before, so I think this may be it.

So my first question is, what does bottoming out sound like? Had many setups and never heard this before.

I am thinking it may be the box, the way he designed it since I did a foam in. I mean the box is so small, so I am hoping it is the right size. I will have to get excat measurments later, as they are not open yet.

The amp is turned down pretty low and the crossover a little over half. My HU is cranked up on the sub out 3 out of 6. I just cant understand it. My other install sounded way better than this. Was clearer and louder.2 12" Alpine type R's in 1.75cft per chamber. I understand it should be louder,(Double the cone) but this Fi Q was suppoesed to be the high end SQ woofer. I am only feeding it around 1000rms if that. I have a pretty weak electrical besides a couple kinetiks. I am just baffled. I paid over 400 bucks and I am wishing I had my other subs in there. Reason I went with this is because one of the Alpines VC'S took a shit on me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif Anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)

Is yours ported? I thought they tested the sub in a sealed enclousure in the 12 great challenge and rated it like 4 with the BM SI. I could be wrong though. I just dont get it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Very dissappointed so far. I am hoping its the box, but I just spent like 80 bucks on the box.

Well I am heading to my installers shop to get some testing done on this thing. We are gonna switch out the sub to a memphis mojo to see how that sounds to see if it is the sub and too test for leaks in the box. I hope it is just a leak cause he said it is built to specs off Fi's website. Let yall know how it pans out tomorrow. Man I wish it just sounded good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

aw jeeze...this is the last thing i wanted to hear when i just ordered one two days ago....and ive now heard that the Q is bottoming out on two different occasions....both in sealed applications though. Weird

and you dont know how to set the crossover and head unit yourself?
The box is built to specs from Fi. Is at 1.5cft sealed since I listen to a lot of different music I steered away from the ported. I might still have to try a ported, but just did a god dam foam in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Also I know how to set my crossover. I have adjusted it as much as I can and still sounds like shit. I am down to two things. Its either a faulty sub or it is a leak in the box or just a plain shitty build. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

My 18's would bottom out when I sent them more than rated power and opened the trunk lid.

Also they bottomed out once when I played a 10 hz sine accidently at full volume in an over sized 28 hz box with no SSF.

Geee... I don't get it.

I dont get it either. They are not recieving anymore than 900-1000 rms if I am lucky. I am just hoping it is a box issue. Hopefully just a leak.
