A couple quick questions.........

1. My amp has a Bass Boost switch on it. With the switch on it's much boomier....obviously......with it off the bass is tighter but lower than what i want...would turning up the gain make up for this? I've read and been told that using the bass boost is ok but can shorten the life of amps and subs.......is this true?

2. I know that you use a dmm, in AC mode, on the outputs of an amp to get a reading and then use that number in an equasion (sp) to get the wattage coming out....what's the equasion?

1. Yes, turning up the gain will make all of the bass frequencies being amplified louder. This can result in an uneven response curve (the bass being louder than the rest of the system) but from what you are saying this is what you want. Try it out, experiment, just don't set your gains too high. And yes, using the bass boost can cause an amp to clip at the boosted frequencies well well before the non boosted ones and this can cause speaker damage, esp if you are using an amp outputing near or higher than the speaker's rated RMS power handling.

2. V=sqrt(P*R) - where V equals Voltage, P is power in watts, and R is resistance in ohms.
