I was thinking about maybe possibly thinking about getting a comeplete DJ set. I dont really know too much about them but was wondering pretty much what a complete basic set includes and about a price range.

Im not talking about top of the line stuff here, just what you would typically see at a big house party.

You can find some Tech 12's or Stanton str8100's for decently cheap if you look around. If you're new to it just get a basic mixer until you have enough of a foundation where you can utilize what a good mixer can do. If you're just beat matching then simplicity will work fine. Upgrades can always come later. CDJ's, final scatch, all that can come later if you don't want to use just vinyl.

you are thinking about maybe possibly thinking about getting a set? :p it all depends on what you are getting. you talking about turntables, CD player, mixer, amp, speakers, the whole 9. or just a CD mixer and a home reciever? do you know what you are doing? it's not like you just hit play and the songs mix themselves. there is some practice needed. but as far as price, the sky's the limit. there isn't really an average. thats like saying how much will a system in my car cost?

lol yea.... just vaguely thinking about it...... yea i think if i can get a basic simple set for a good price i might do it. I just sold some subs and got about 500 bucks that i can spend without feeling bad.

yea I am new and might want to get into it just to mess around on, and play around with in my house. nothing serious. If i could get the mixers and all that and be able to hook them up into my receiver and speakers i already have, that would be great.

talk to brock. he knows all.
whos brock??

im just looking for someone to basically break down the different components very simply or direct me toward a site that could explain very simply the different components, etc.....

i would look for a used set of Tech 1200's. i picked up my first set of techs 5 years ago used of some guy that had them for 7 years before me. they are still holding up after all the years of abuse.

if not, stanton makes some good starter kits. 500 should get you into a decent kit but remember.. you gotta buy records.

your going to do to cd's or turntables? scratching or mixing? hip hop or house or what? dj forums
i dont really know the pros and cons of cds vs turntables,

its gonan be for scratching and mixing, mostly hip hop. not to be the main music player. just to play around on and give a shot at scratching and mixing.

First, what exactly are you wanting to do with the tables?

Second, I would try a friend's decks first. There's no sense in spending a chunk of money if you get frustrated at beat matching and they sit around and collect dust.

Personally, I'd go with tables (and did) over CDJ's to start with.
