ohm- resistance in this case presented by the subwoofer to the amplifier

dual 2 ohm subs, 2 voice coils, metal coil wrapped around a former presenting a 2 ohm load.

How you wire the subs determines what load(ohms) the amplifier will see.

So a dual 2 ohm sub can be wired in either series or parallel series, adds the two coils together 2+2=4, and parallel takes the ohm load and divides by the number of coils 2/2=1ohm

thats the simple way ohms are used in car audio.

the wood thats generally used is 3/4" medium density fiberboard (MDF), or birch which is a lighter material,Trupan is another commonly used wood

I will add to the box thing, however... The purpose of a box is to seperate the front of the speaker from the rear of the speaker so it can create sound without cancelling the waves.. And each speaker has its own specific requirments so a box can make one speaker sound great, but a diffrent speaker sound like crap.

I know, gay title.... get over it.
Anyways, so im married to a guy who spends practically ALL OF HIS TIME on the forums... which i am perfectly fine with.

However, i have absolutely NO idea how car audio works, i mean i have watched him and his friend built the sub box and install all the oz vector stuff, but brand names and "installers lingo" is all i know.

I really am interested in learning about his obsession, and maybe making it my own as well. However, when i ask him questions like what the different types of speaker wire are, how do you know when you need more, less mids and highs...[etc] he just says, don't worry about it, just hand me the screwdriver.

****ITT! i hate this! i really DO want to learn! so if anyone would take a few moments and lend me some tips, maybe books to read or hit me up on aim [mention the thread] id really really appreciate it!

I think its koo that a girl wants to learn bout car audio. My girl asks me questions bout it an i have no problem answering them. An for the immature people saying a girl shouldnt be involved is retarded cause looks at Elma Gates, she was at the top of the game for awhile with her bronco(dont know if she still is). Doesnt mean all girls have a place in car audio, but for the ones that wanna try an learn a few things big ups to them.
