99 Mustang GT indash DVD problems

I put a dvd player in a friends car w. both grounds connected to the stock ground (regular HU ground, and the dvd screen ground that is supposed to go to the e-brake)

It will work at first, but once you turn the car off then back on, the blue screen comes on.....

any suggestions?

Should i just ground the ebrake wire to any ground in the car?

Ive never had a problem hooking both wires to the single ground for the HU.

ground the ebreak wire, put a switch on it, flick it on off then on and it works
