99 Maxima NEED NEW ALTERNATOR... Please suggest...

Whats up guys. I am looking for a HIGHER power alt. than my stock one I have right now..

I am running a Mean Machine 3000.1 at 1 ohm, and an Alpine F545 powering some Boston Acoustic Pro 60's.

I just got a new battery, but I was told it would just drain if my Alt. Wasnt powerful enough...which it isnt (had it tested). SO I am looking for something a little better. I dont think I need at 300Amp alt. necessarily, just something that will support the system...

ORRRRR can I just get an Optima Yellow top, throw it in the trunk and run my system off of that alone... because I know that would be the cheapest for sure.

I DONT HAVE $500 bucks folks, so please,anything you could recommend for about $300 would be great. Thanks

umm...run ur yt up front and something in the back. do the big 3 and be careful with the gains.

or call some companies and see how much an alt will cost

yt up front? oh oh, nvmd.. See i was wondering if I could just get a like 900CCA battery up front, and just put a yellowtop in the back to run the system seperately off of and avoid getting a new alt.???

Or using a 16V deep cycle battery to run the system seperate

EA should have a stock case alt for your car, probably 200a. Give Nate a call and see what he has and how much...

You won't be finding anything for $300 for a 99 Maxima. A stock unit for that vehicle almost costs that much. Furthermore, overwinding the stock case might get you close to 200 amps, but with almost no output at idle, which would mean that you would have to rev your engine every time you want to get anything out of the alternator.

To get even close to 300amps and still have any output at idle, you will need to do a large case conversion, which is more in the $500 range. A 250 amp Large case unit will give you the best ballance of idle output and peak performance.
