Arrite, I know how to do the Big 3... but I came across what could be a problem.

And the back:

I think the one in the back is the ground... but the top boot. Does that basically mean I can't do the Big 3 with that alt?

[P.S the wire that's connected to the alt, but not the boot comes from the boot... stupid, I know... But, what do you really expect? It's a Ford.]

... it makes my head hurt, and my pockets hurt more. =(

im pretty sure the one with the boot is not the ground, that is the power wire. i had a 94 it was the same. look at the wires on that clip, theres 3 really small ones, pretty sure thats not charging the battery. but someone else should verify..

can't you trace the power wire back from the battery? yeah the three little ones are probably for some sensor...
I actually tried. It went under my engine, I got under my car and then had to give up the search after it went under my engine block and I couldn'tr track it. I mean, if necessary I'll start to really dig in there. But, I don't want to if I don't have to.

So get one..they're cheap.

The wire in your second picture is most definitely the positive. There is no way 70+ amps are going through those small wires. Plus it makes no sense. It should be one solid cable.

In addition, alts typically do not have a ground on them. They use the ground from the engine block to the chassis. Look for that wire.

How much is a meter?

[Would a DMM work? 'cause I was thinking about investing in one. But, as of now, money's tightasf*ck.]

And as for the ground from the alt, do I just take a bolt from the alt off, and put down a terminal and put the bolt back in, and also replace / add onto the chassis/body ground?

I'm gunna follow that wire when I find the time. Probably not for the next week or two, seeing how I'm extremely busy for the next few days, and I leave on a 7 day Cruise Saturday. (So stoked)

do not add any new wires to any bolt. Only use bolts where existing wires are. Look for the ground wire from the engine block to the chassis. Ignore trying to find or add one to the alternator.

You could even buy a under $20 hot circuit indicator which is typically built into a screwdriver. It lights up when it comes in range of a hot wire.

The wire on the back. What looks to be an 8ga wire. That's your charging wire. To verify, look at your battery on + post. Same wire isn't it? Cut a little bit of that boot. Take off the bolt. Add your new wire and leave the old one there too. Replace bolt. I believe you know the rest, if not shoot me a pm.
