ok can some one tell me if i need a power cap if i have 3 12" subs and 2 10"

momma says that caps are the devil. just kidding.. well you don't need one. they are a temp. solution to a bigger problem. start by doing a search for the big three and do that. also look into 0 gauge wire for your amps. upgrade to a yellow top or something of the likes that is a deep cycle battery. that should help with most of your dimming issues. if still doing to look into an upgraded alt.

ok so im prob gunna give the 10s to my lil bro and sell one of the 12s and just have one box in the boot if i do this then how will i wire up the power cap do i just tack the cap and hoock up the posi from the batt to the posi of the cap and then tack summit fom the neg to the amp is this right

Caps are useless.

Let me put in it perspective. Regular Caps are 1 Farad, some are up to 10 Farad, but are extremely expensive.

A battery is about 10,000 Farads, I believe. Perhaps more.

So, what do you think is better?

Get a Yellowtop Battery under your trunk, do the big three. If your sh*t's still dimming, get a High Output alt..

I'm telling you, Caps are just pretty, that's it. The numbers they do are completely useless in comparison to a second battery, or better wiring.

ok granted that all of u h8 caps it wont hurt to leave it in the system will it i meen even if all it dose is give som pritty numbers to look at and some lights it wont do any harm will it

Depends on your batt, alt, and size wire you used. If you have a lot of extra power to throw around, I don't see why not. But it puts a lot more strain on your alt constantly refilling that cap, and your battery(ies)

EDIT:: And for the record, more subs does not always = louder, or better sounding. It just means more. As said before, a properly built / set-up 12" system could outperform all 3 12"s, 2 10"s, and what? 2 15"s?
