can anyone help me out, i have an electrical short in my car, some times the horn honks in the middle of the day, when i honk the horn the vol goes up some times, when i use the window wipers it changes songs or goes up, some times it randomly goes up, can anyone help me out at all? it seems expensive to get fixed cuz the problem could be anywhere, is there anything i can do to check it out or fix it? if not where can i bring it too?

Does your car have audio controls and whatnot embedded in the steering wheel? (whether the buttons that control various things are on the spokes or in the center notwithstanding) ?

If so my first guess is that there is a short-circuit...possibly some frayed or missing insulation on one or more wires in the wiring harness that snakes up the steering column to inside the steering wheel. (this would be wiring for the horn, cruise control, turn signals, audio controls if present on the steering wheel, wipers, etc, etc.)

One of the F-450 trucks at my work caught a short in those wires in the column once....everytime you tried to engage the cruise control or use the windshield wipers it would make the horn honk. Was maddening as hell until the source of the problem was traced down.
