I wanted to share my personal experience with my hands on experience with the products sold by Don @ Sound deadener showdown. You may visit his website at http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com for a complete outline/detail about each of his products, and what they are used for in each different application etc.

**I will be putting up a build log eventually with everything that I have done to the car. Going to be a really nice SQ system in this car.**

With that being said, Me and Don took on the task of completely stripping apart my entire car to add the following 3 items to get the job done:

-CLD Tiles

-Closed Cell Foam

-Mass Loaded Vinyl(MLV)

We also used a few misc accessories as well, as seen HERE

I would say about 75% of my car is done thus far in total. I still need to get my doors done, and maybe a little bit more work in the trunk, but for the main part the hardest part has been completed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

First off before I get into any detail of what me and Don accomplished in about 12 hours of work, I have to give this guy TREMENDOUS RESPECT AND THANKS. He completely went out of his way to explain to me every detail of what was going to be done, from start to finish. Over a good amount of time through emails, not just one day. This guy really knows what he is talking about when it comes to his products. He is a very honest guy and it does not take much to notice that right away. He went completely out of his way for me to help me with this task. We both were at it for over 12 hours trying to get this task done. Not only that, but he was running on about 2 hours of sleep, and I was running on about 5 hours. PLUS it was Hot as HELL outside, with very little shade. All of the measurements, cutting, applying, sweat, adhesive, I mean you name it the guy knows what he is doing. Not only that but I learned so much in this process. Needless to say Don is the MAN!

One of the things that REALLY caught my attention about Don is the following: I asked him a question...It was a pretty detailed question that normally I dont think anyone would ever ask. He didnt make any ole answer up, he flat out told me he did not know the answer. I like the fact that he didnt beat around the bush and give me an answer to shut me up. He was honest enough to tell me he was not certain. Your not going to find many business owners like this. Big kudos to him.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay so onto the pics. Here is what we accomplished.

Okay so here we go.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I did not get pictures of everything, however to sum it up we vibration damped the entire interior space of the car with CLD tiles, covered the floor with closed cell foam, then MLV on top of that. Rear deck was CLD tiles and MLV on top of that. I then took some more materials on my way home with me so I can do my doors, and possibly finish of the trunk sometime soon.

MY INITIAL THOUGHTS AFTER THE INSTALL:

WHen I first started my car and we went out for a test drive, MAN I could immediately tell how noisy my DOORS were. Because we had not done anything to the doors. Even before we started we noticed that the doors were super loud to begin with. I could immedately tell in the areas that we had worked on ALOT of noise being blocked out. It was a complete night and day difference. The more I drive my car now, the more I want to get my doors done because of the difference I can tell by all the work we had done. My exhaust you can barely hear anymore. No more rumbling, nice thick THUDS over bumps. Traditional Highway noise was cut down dramatically. I am extremely pleased with this. ESPECIALLY FOR THE FACT THAT MY FIRST THOUGHTS ON THE 25% THEORY WAS WTF??!!!??. THE MLV REALLY GETS THE JOB DONE. Without telling a friend of mine what I had done the other today, today he got in my car and said something felt different. Even he could tell.

Don, I wish you nothing but great things in the future. Thank you for all of your help, support, and kindness over the last few months. I appreciate it all.

Guys, trust me if your looking for ANYTHING to do with sound dampening your vehicle. CONTACT DON. Dont even think about going anywhere else. I hoped this review helped alot of you out there. If anyone has any questions about our process feel free to PM me anytime. Thank you.

Nice. Great post. It looks well done without wasting a bunch of CLD like most deadening installs.
Yeah with my 92 civic I have everything covered inside the front doors, and the entire trunk done. What a waste!! Oh and no CCF, or MLV!! Completely wrong.

nice, I really wish I had the info I have now when I did mine.

I would have done it more like this, I just threw a bunch of mat in there and foam......took up space and not as much help.

If I had to do it over, this is the way I would go

blowthrough?
the back window rolls down so making a blowthrough from the trunk would be a PITA

i had a single 12" orion extreme in the trunk when i had mine and it was pretty loud for what it was back then

i swap[ed that out for a JL audio stealth box, worst $700 i ever spent on car audio

Yeah a few people told me to go the stealth box route, im not doing that. Waste of money to me. I think I will be going with a single 10, MAYBE a 12, but I wont be running anymore than 600w.

Eventually I will be making a build log thread, I just dont have the time right about now. I specifically made time to write this thread because I felt Don deserved it.

Now we need about 20 more of these to build enough case evidence to complete destroy the "more is better" and "you can never have too much" attitude on "deadening." //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Loved the part about Don telling you he did not know the answer. The true mark of any professional is to know his/her limitations. This is not very common in the "sound deadening" industry. Wonder how much CLD mat would actually go into cars if manufacturers reduced their self-indulgent blowing of smoke up their customer's ***** by 50%?

You know. I just realized...pretty much all OEM car manufacturers do that. Pull up your carpet and look in your trunk. I never realized that those little strips of "deadening" were actually doing their job. In a normal listening envirnoment with stock exhaust and stereo, those little strips they add do the job in getting rid of vibration. I always thought they were a joke when I saw them and thought the OEM was just being cheap. Now I've seen the light.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.
