8053 Problem!??!

if it has a reset button that should take care of it ... if not then u will need to pull it out of your dash and unplug the wiring harness and plug it back in... should fix it either way

I'm almost positive you cannot get around the security without entering a code, because the reason you ran into this problem was because the unit lost power. It's part of eclipses anti-theft program. Like say, someone stole your unit and they put it in there car, the unit will not work unless they have the code so they have to call eclipse and blah blah blah.

I'm pretty sure that's the reason behind it though.

i think you might have accidentally programmed a key cd to it, because every eclipse that i owned that didnt have one programmed fired right up after losing power. take it to you local eclipse dealer, send it back, and eclipse can reset it for you.

A reset would do absolutely nothing for that problem.

SOME of the first few batches of 8443s and 8053s had an esn glitch(and they would act just as this guy describes). Call Eclipse(certainly hope the deck is registered), give them the s/n, and they will give a rolling code over the phone once they verify that you are the rightful owner.

just installed it myself so I didnt send the registration card in yet. Is that going to be a problem. What if I take the deck out and slam it out on the ground would that help.

How long ago did you buy the deck, and did you buy it from an authorized dealer?

The registration card should be mailed in within 30 days of purchasing the deck(from an authorized dealer, ofcourse). Some people just never send in the registration cards and that makes no sense.

I bought it last year in June but didnt put it in till now.....I bought it on ebay. I do have the paypal reciept. It was unlocked when I put it in...just when I disconnected the battery and put it back on then it locked up. Im so pissed. I didnt send the card because I knew I wasnt going to install it for a while...my bad. I hope if I tell them my case they will cut me a break.......but I always have high hopes.

The paypal receipt might help. If you bought it new, then it won't come up as stolen(so Eclipse should unlock it for you, no problem).
