so i've been hearing some great things about the dd 8" subs...

i know they pound like he ll for their size but how is the sq?

where can i get them and how much?

i'm trying to get ideas for possible future assassin replacements...

also how do the dd's compare to the audioque?

askjeeves.com haha jk ... havent heard anything about them myself
well i've always loved dd subs, such great quality... the 1008 i hear has good sq and get really loud with only 200-400 rms... now 4 of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif would be really cool....just have to find them...not many authorized dealers:(

i mean...the sd2's are $89 each and the dd's are pretty much the same so i doubt the can be that expensive...

For 89 bucks its a bargain...from what ive heard I would put them right up against the Rl-i, just much cheaper //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Do a search for the Great 8 challenge (think that's what it's called) and it has a review on the DD 8's, not sure about the Sl-i's or AA's though.

they seem to lose sq about half way from where they max out at. a diff angle- they'll keep cleanly slamming the lows beyond where their transient attack starts to degrade in sq as you crank the volume.

3/4 - 1 cube ported, tuned to 40hz like dd suggests is where it's at.

i have a single 1008 in a 3/4 cube net box with a 4" port for an in shop demo. it blows peoples minds how much output it has.

if you don't have a local dealer, get them direct from DD.

from what i hear the dd 1008's are great sql subs. Contrary to the popular belief all dd subwoofers are just spl and burp subs are simply false. This generalization probably comes from the fact that the "most known" dd subs are the 9500 and 9900 series. which are admittedly more spl oriented subs. The truth is that dd subs are all extremely well built in the usa with us manufactured parts. They are one of the best in terms of quality and performance. The 1008's are no different. In my opinion they are bargains for the price, these little things can sound great and bump like crazy for their size. Personally i think i'll go with the 1008 instead of the rli/tc1000 because of the cheaper price and hopefully equal or better performance.

how would you compare it's sq, are they comaprable to the assassins, type r's, cvr's anything?

also, can i just use a 1 cube box with a 4" tube port?

thanx

never heard the assassins at all and i haven't heard an 8" in the type r or cvr, just the bigger sizes in those ones.

dd is a good sounding woofer. they kick like a mule. it's hard to describe what they do in a vehicle. it's just intense. and for a box tuned to 40hz, it hits the low's better than expected.

4" round port is fine. flare the ends or you WILL get port noise if you push the sub to the max.
