S15l7 Vs 15" Fi Q

Ok so i was pretty sure i wanted to get 2 12" Alpine type-r's, but today i got a chance to listen to a 15" Fi Q. I have to say im very impressed with the sound of a 15" sub, i just love the way it the bass surounds you. I plan on puttin some 8"s up front to fill in teh midbass. I have a Hifonics bx1605d. I wanted to know will a S15L7 sound about as loud and good as this Fi Q did?

BTW i heard the Q on the SAME EXACT amp as I have so that shouldnt make a difference

As far as what im looking for i mean i could care less about what other people hear, or "how far away you can hear my car", or "setting off car alarms". I just want it to be loud and low as **** inside of my car, with decent enough sq that it doesnt sound bad to my ears (ive never heard any really sq based subs, besides that q). Ive had 2 ddiff sets of 12"s in the last 2 months and there loud, but its just not the same as a 15.

I just want that throat closing up, eardrums about to spill over 15" kinda bass feeling something that when people get in my car they quickly understand just how loud one sub can get

after talkin to a couple ppl about this, a few ppl recommended that i throw it in a pretty large sealed box...

would it still be really loud??? (i know the response would be much better and it would be more efficient)

so basically:

1) Will a S15L7 be loud enough and get low enough for what im looking for (as loud or louder than a FI Q)

2) Would a sealed box still be ****in loud but while giving the lil better response/sq

3) Will my Hifonics bx1605d amp be powerful enough (@ 1ohms)

Huge thanks in advance to any advice

having a 15 L7, they do best in larger boxes. like 5ish cubes, and ported.

haven't heard the fi q yet, but this 15 gets hella loud in the 6cubes@30hz i've got it in right now. i'm only giving it about 750w though so it can get way louder.

1) A 15 L7 should be plenty loud for you.

2) A sealed box for the Q or the L7? I'd say port either, and in the right ported enclosure you won't notice a big difference with the SQ. It will be significantly louder though.

3) Yes. The Q really only needs about 1200 RMS. The L7 less than that, so you're good.

i figured all i ever hear about is the poor sq of an l7 so i figured sealing it might be better

it would also take up less space

but if you guys really dotn think its a good idea then i wont

and btw im not even considering the Q i was just using that as a comparison

would puttin an L7 in a sealed box be a bad thing??

i think it has enough spl to be able to sacrfice a lil to gain some better response

idk im not really sure you guys tell me

I wouldnt run the l7 sealed.. If I were gunna run it sealed, I would do the cvx instead, as it has a better response in sealed boxes..

L7's are insanely loud ... my 2 12"s made me a little deaf (seriously) ... but then again they require large ported boxes and take gobs of power... buy the dual 2ohm version so u can run it @ 1ohm gettin everything ur amp has to offer and i bet you will be extremly satisifed with its output

and the sq is relative as the other guy said... i like the way it sounded... and honestly when my friend and i compared our systems (he had 2 W6v2's) they sounded the same SQ wise in rap music so i dotn know where people get off saying they sound like shit...

A Fi Q and an L7 in its optimal ported enclosure are very different subs...

You can make the L7 sound musical, but it's far less forgiving, especially in ported enclosures. But I'd go with the Q if you want any semblance of sounding "good" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
