ok im runing 16 guage speaker wire to my jl 12w6's but i recently got a jl 10w7 and it came in a wired up box the guy was using 8 guage power and ground wires as speaker wire so i was thinking does he know something i dont ?will this help for more power flow?

It'll help in extreme cases, like when you're running thousands of watts, or if you're competing and every little tenth on the meter matters.

In my competiton box I use 8 gauge for my speaker wire...I wouldn't use any less than 12 gauge in your case.

you won't notice a difference, but you'll have very slightly more power going to your subs

yea...for high-powered setups 8-gauge is a good idea but not necessary really for

I run 8 gauge because I have 1 wire (+ and -) from my amp to the box, carry all 2kw of power @ 0.5 ohm.

i just like to use the biggest wire that can fit in the terminal. 8 ga seems to be it for most push terminals on subs i have, so i use 8 ga. also its nice and chunky, it looks nicer than some dinky little shit. if you dont like having muliple conductors for each speaker, buy some techflex and some heatshrink and make it look even more pretty. the only problem i have found is if you like to run spades or for some reason banana connectors, its harder to find some that will fit 8 ga. most take 10 or 12 ga. hope that helps...

i have the same problem..i have one 10w7 n i dont know what guage wire to hook up my sub to my speaker cup..can some1 help me out?

for me it was .4 difference from 18 gauge to 8 gauge. running around 8k. so to the ear it doesnt matter.
