6x9 vs 6.5" speakers

Hi,

I'm trying to choose a system that will deliver good quality music for pure listening pleasure while on a budget.

I just want to ask if there is a significant difference between using a 3way 6x9 speaker vs a 2way 6.5 inch speaker... and which should work out better.
