Throw away all of that "high end gear", apply for some credit cards and get you some decent components. Dont worry about paying the bill for now. Make car audio a PRIORITY!

Wow, THANK YOU, that website helps TREMENDOUSLY for a newbie like me. at first when I saw the "electron" home page I was a bit worried but that site answers a lot of my questions.

Once again, thank you for finally helping me out.

One more question?

When you are saying replace all wiring what EXACTLY are you talking about? if you are talking about speaker wires, there wont be any replacing going on, it will all be new additions. Basically, you are just talking about speaker wiring right?

My radio did come with the AM/FM option, I forgot about that earlier whoever asked.

Thanks:fro:

Shit man tell you the truth i wouldn't even put a system in that car. that car is so clean and nice keep it in the condition that it is in take real good care of it that could be one good investment man. very nice mustang

Yes, replace all the speaker wires. In 42 years, they get rather corroded.

I would not remove the existing ones, but supplement those with brand new runs.

There is a channel in the sill plate that makes this process extremely easy.

Dont even mess with the stereo in that car. Just leave it alone. That car is way to clean to play with if your serious about music, put that car away, buy a shitty beater with the money you get from selling your pyramid equipment and save for some better stuff. That car is really nice and I would hate to see it changed. I know everybody flamed you, but try getting on one of the Mustang forums that I belong to and tell them what you wanna do to that cherry 65 and they will give you a serious flame job. You seem like a decent dude dont do it!

Well, Flip, unfortunately, for you, Ive spent way too many hours with that motor to get it where its at, and to part with it would be pretty hard. However, where do you live?? I would love to do a 289 for you or if you just want to get rid of it. let me know on here or PM, or email me at cavallo_13@msn.com(preferable way of com.) I have participated in a couple 289 rebuilds but I haven't yet tackled one by myself and would love to. (send pics to my email if possible to see what condition its in)

Audiobahn, I have a few discrete mods done to it such as upgraded headlights, HID White/Blue beams, a custom fabed exhaust past the manifold, and I upgraded to power brakes, but besides that, the car is completely original, and thast the way I'm planning on keepin it

DJ, honestly I could give a shit less what they think about me doing that, Ive restored it to original already and I want to liven it up a bit. The majority of the work done on the car is by me and it was in no where near the shape it is in. I'm changing my OWN work on my OWN car. They have no say in it. period. I know its in great condition, I got it there.

I agree

plz do

what i would think might be pretty awesome, if you must install a system, is if you did an all old-skool system... look around for some quality old-skool car audio components and put those in it.... i think classic cars w/ modern technology REALLY clash and dont look good..

but yeah if you could get your hands on some "high-end" old skool audioz from the 80s or so that might be a sweet install

Wesl, the modifications Im going to this car are purely aesthetic. Once I can afford another mustang Im going to re-install all the old parts, all of which are kept in my garage. Including the old kick panels without speakers, the original headlights, and take off the poker brakes. Simple as that. And it will all go in my new car, which will be the crazy one. Ill have an all-original and a restomod
