phoenix gold component set = 80$ or so

That right there about = 440$

6.5" components - CTX65CS - Image Dynamics 6.5" Component Speaker System $190amplifier - Crescendo Audio :: Amplifers :: 1000C4 4 Channel Amplfier $240

sub - RWE-302 - MB Quart 12" 1000 Watt Reference Series Subwoofer $70

amp kit - Car Audio Wire $51.50

deadener - Amazon.com: Dynamat 10435 Xtreme Door Kit 4 Sheets: Automotive $49

I don't know why you'd need a 4 channel and monoblock amplfier for a pair of components and a subwoofer...
friend plans to add 6x9's in coming weeks (maybe even days)

and he wants a decent sub(s) that will get loud (and sound good)

any ideas how the ids sound? ive always wondered about those, but never heard them. how are they on midbass? any idea?

Power them with the cd player.

That MB Quart sub is extremely decent and it sounds just fine. It isn't the loudest thing in the world, though.

Tons of satisfied people are using them. They're among the best budget friendly component sets on the market.

Oh, and that Crescendo amplifier that I linked is made by the same buildhouse as Sundown, the old RD Audio stuff, the DC amps, etc. It's a really nice, stout 4 channel amplifier.

thanks for the input!

15's are too big for his car. so 12's would be better. and cheaper! =)

are those mb quarts that good? (x2 on them now. )

hes running stock deck. =(

so he's going to be using locs.

il defintely be going with the ids.

subs.. he needs loudest/cleanest he can get. he'll be keeping this for a good while

powering 6x9's with deck isnt bad idea., but idk if stock deck will be enough power to even drive them well enough to be worth getting the 6x9's

...maybe a nice affordable 5 channel amp?

The 2 ohm dvc 12" is $70. They're fucking killer for the price.

For the record, I recommended the 12" MB Quart RWE-304, ID CTX65cs and MB Quart DSC4125 to a guy on the forum and he absolutely loved it. I'm recommending pretty much the same thing to you now, but the Crescendo amplifier is nicer than the DSC4125. The stuff I linked will be tough to beat for $600, unless you find some nice used stuff. I even alloted some of the budget for wiring and sound deadener...at least enough of it to do SOMETHING with the front doors.

Rear fill should be barely noticeable anyway. There's no point in pushing a lot of power to rear coaxials when you have nice components up front...

very true

makes a lot of sense. okay. components are definitely taken care of.

subs though.. i think he wants more power. (he got kind of used to my re mx in my car lol)

.unless those mb quarts can really do 700 watts rms?

theres some 12 w6's in the classfields for i think 300 for two?

and an idmax for 200 shipped.

im liking those also

The MB quarts are fvcking awesome, i had 2 of the 15s, put then in .75 sealed, they sound phenomenal, clear crisp bass, some of the cleanest subs ive ever heard.

Dont put them in a sealed box they will bottom out and you will trash them

The 15" MB Quart is rated for 700 watts. The 12" model is rated for 500 watts. Both can handle the power no problem.

Of course the ID Max or a pair of W6s are a better option, they're both extremely expensive in comparison to the MB Quart. If you can trust the people selling them, jump on it. But then you're going to need a budget friendly/entry level or used amplifier. The Crescendo amplifier I linked is far from entry level.

misfit.. i like your pics. originally i had (all from classfields):

2 zapcos: $ 375- http://www.caraudio.com/forum/car-audio-classifieds/479539-fs-zapco-alumapro-rainbow-ppi-cdt.html

2 w6's or 1 idmax http://www.caraudio.com/forum/car-audio-classifieds/479285-fs-2-12-jl-w6v2-subs.html or http://www.caraudio.com/forum/car-audio-classifieds/478787-fs-image-dynamics-idmax-12d4v-3-a.html

plus a component set

(if i go with w6's or idmax, i have a 1500 clarion to give him for 100 bucks)
