6 6.5 subs, what do you think?

i got two of them in a nolte audio ds and i pulled a 129 thought it was pretty impressive but id like to try that idea of the 4th order bandpass but i hvae no clue how to build one or how big it would actually end up being?
have each 6.5 in .25cubes sealed playing into common 1 cube ported area with a 20 sqauare inch port tuned to 70hz and u should have alot of output and still hit the lows

late night tip will be very impressive to say the least

Here are the specs on the subs if anyone is interested. Not listed is the 14mm XMAX //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
Not listed is the fact that they don't have 14mm one way linear excursion.

http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1895&page=1&pp=10

Plus it's high likelyhood of distortion, given the nonlinear/asymmetrical Bl curve and offset.

You would have been better off with a single larger subwoofer (of better design).......

Heck, a single Soundsplinter Rl-i10 would have had more linear displacement (given the Eu only has 7mm of forward linear excursion), smaller enclosure size, better sound quality, and been cheaper. Would need less power aswell.......

A single pair of 10's would have been better... If that is what I wanted. I have what I want here. I will not be attending comps and this is in my daily driver. You can bash ED if you like but there are probaly people that hate what you have.. It really doesn't matter. As long as I am happy with what I have You guys are happy with what you have then so be it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Post about the Board, you learn to use what is available. Till someone shows me scientific proof that Using this wood is detrimental to my sound, I will continue to use it and nt wast the time Searching for MDF (I am in germany so you have to uses what you can)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I didn't even say a pair....a single 10" would have been better.

Has nothing to do with bashing eD. The link I posted is completely objective measurements.

If paying too much money for relatively inferior performance makes you happy....well then, more power to you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But you could have done far more performance wise with less space, power and money.

PS: You did ask us what we think //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'll bash eDuh all day long because Ben as a lying moron who makes horrible business decisions.

I am QUITE happy with my Avalance 18...i only have 5 times more linear displacement capeability and paid just a little bit more than you.

it is a UNIQUE set up, not a great one.

as for P-Board, P-Board is inferior to MDF in every way except cost...and a sheet of MDF is only a few bucks more. MDf is easier to work with, will result in better structural integrety, and has better acoustical properties.

hehe I knew the way this post would go as soon as people saw the ed's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

All, I apreciate the input, no really I do. I meant to mention above a single or pair of 10's sorry about the typo.

All I wanted to do here is make something different which as you see I have done. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Take care all, I have some testing to do!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

1. eD's business is up something like 7X's this year??

2. Too many people think that particleboard is hunks of wood haphazardly glued together. Not true. Particleboard is an engineered product with specific properties that must be met to have it graded in a specific grade and usage grouping. Particleboard today is not like the stuff we used for cabinets and so on in the 1950s. In many uses, especially structural, and in fastening, particleboard will greatly outperform MDF.

Incidentally, what is MDF? It is the same wood used for particleboard, except it is made smaller (fibers or groups of fibers) before it is glued back together. It uses the same adhesive, too! The June 2002 issue of FDM magazine had a nice summary of the composite board definitions. Read it before making statements that are not really true but that need qualifications.
