6 6.5 subs, what do you think?

Right on man! Looks good!

1. eD's business is up something like 7X's this year??

2. Too many people think that particleboard is hunks of wood haphazardly glued together. Not true. Particleboard is an engineered product with specific properties that must be met to have it graded in a specific grade and usage grouping. Particleboard today is not like the stuff we used for cabinets and so on in the 1950s. In many uses, especially structural, and in fastening, particleboard will greatly outperform MDF.

Incidentally, what is MDF? It is the same wood used for particleboard, except it is made smaller (fibers or groups of fibers) before it is glued back together. It uses the same adhesive, too! The June 2002 issue of FDM magazine had a nice summary of the composite board definitions. Read it before making statements that are not really true but that need qualifications.

Then Copy and past some Proof, not just opinion. ftw:laugh:

Like I mentioned before I have seen no proof that one is better than the other. The goal is a solid non flexing box, which I have. When you have no proof of stability differences, you have only opinion and since I don't know your audio back ground how can I take your opinion as proof over my opinion (installing since 87 off and on)

Proof We do not have yet, only opinion.

Nevermind, it apparently went right over your head.

No I did get it. But still the entire thread is Opinions and hardly facts. Opinions are what I wanted though. You all have contributed nicely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thank you!

With the exclusion of the sarcastic post about the MDF and particle board debate, all of my posts have been facts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you did post a link to actual measurments //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Just went out and ran a few freqs to the box. I love how low this thing gets. but my esx Q1752 is going into protect mode in low voltage config...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Should only be putting out 300w or so but I don't know... it is stable to 1 ohm and I measured the resistance at 1.7... Dang.... gotta wait till my other amp arrives ...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

I thought it had a lot of good information?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

Seriously though, I have never used anything but MDF, and I am curious now. It seems the only real difference between MDF and HDF is the density, and it also seems to be that a denser wood would be more desirable to reduce flex and increase the sturdiness. Here is a chart of density:

http://www.hudsonhighland.com/fiberboardchart.htm

I guess you could consider that a random comment/information, it seems pretty reliable to me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm not an expert on any of this stuff, I could be completely wrong, but it seems to me that HDF > MDF because of the density.

Feel free to correct me,

you were? they should have easily been doing 130's in a daily tuned ported box...
hell, I do believe I did 126dBs with two 4inch midranges //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif haha
